Our Story
A Little Something Different (“ALSD”) is an HCS Program that is owned and operated by Paul and Cheryl Chollett and their daughter, Megan Karlsen. In 2005, while volunteering in a large ICF Facility, Paul, Cheryl and their children fell in love with a 5 year old boy with Down’s Syndrome named Anas. The family couldn’t leave him behind and chose to take him into their home as their own. This experience spurred them to start A Little Something Different a few years later. For over fifteen years now, they have shared a common passion: to provide quality care and service to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They are committed to serve these individuals as if they were part of their own family. ALSD values individualism in their clients and has built the program to serve their unique set of abilities and needs and uncover their sometimes hidden potential. ALSD chooses to stay comparatively small in size in order to maintain a hands-on management approach and a high level of direct involvement in the day-to-day lives of the clients. Feel free to stop by and see what ALSD is doing in the Houston community!
